Guidelines on how use the Rectangle viewfinder

• Show user where to aim using a viewfinder
• Size of viewfinder should correspond to realistic distance for how close to hold the phone when aiming at barcode.
  • For Text Scanning (OCR), match the viewfinder proportions to the text you need to capture.
• Use dimming setting to show where scanning doesn't happen.
  • We recommend a dimming value of 0.2 or less.
  • NB: using a restricted area is only appropriate for OCR, specialty codes, or when using low end devices. Majority of the time, you should not need to use the restricted area.
• If relevant, help the user identify what to scan by using an animation of the relevant barcode symbology, and or via additional guidelines.
• Make sure to test with real barcodes / text in real workflows.
